Celebrate Your Mama

April 22, 2014

My mom is so good at taking care of everyone- especially my dad, brother and me. My life would completely fall apart without our daily phone calls, texts, emails and SOS signals. I jokingly call her my “mom-ager,” because she’s so fantastic at managing my life- even when I don’t think I need her help. My family should be better about returning the favor, but especially on Mother’s Day, we make sure to shower her with all the love and gratitude she deserves. What are your favorite Mother’s Day family traditions? FYI- Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11 so you better start shopping!

My resort-wear top and white jeans are so sweet and springy, but the icing on the cake has got to be my awesome new statement earrings from Bauble Bar! They’re a little heavy on my ears, but I’m crazy about them.

My parents are visiting me in Dallas this weekend for Easter, and I’m so excited to see them! We haven’t been together since December, so we’re obviously overdue for mommy/daughter shopping time and daddy/daughter museum time. Happy (almost) Easter y’all!

I almost squealed when I ripped this neon-pink, polka-dot dress out of its packaging! At only $24.80, it’s amazing affordable and a must-have for spring and summer. My turquoise, eye-catching necklace is also from Forever21 and rings up at only $5.80. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I’m pretty proud of my smart shopping! What have been some of your best wallet-friendly buys?

Spring Date Night

Outfit: Impeccable Pig top (similar), Endless Rose shorts (similar) c/o Movida Boutique
Jewelry: Earrings (similar) c/o Movida Boutique

I wore my favorite new sparkly shorts for a fun date night with my boyfriend. We went out for sushi, devoured Sprinkles Ice Cream for dessert (I have four words for you: red velvet waffle cone) and rented Frozen on iTunes. It was the perfect Saturday night in my book! We’re going to Austin this weekend, and you better believe I’ll pack these shorts. I think they will also look super cute dressed down with a jean jacket and white T-shirt. Please leave recommendations for Austin activities in the comments! Thank you!

Watch Out Wallet: It’s Spring Shopping Time!

March 25, 2014

Here are a few trinkets to put a spring in your step. Clearly, I’m thinking pink today : )

On another note, I’m hosting an event at Movida Boutique this Sunday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. There will be a 40% discount, wine, sweets, a braid bar and a fun backdrop to have your picture taken in front of.
I hope to see you there!

Pink with a Touch of Punk

March 18, 2014

Outfit: LOFT dress, Forever21 blouse (similar)
Jewelry: Kate Spade earrings, Kate Spade bow ring, La Suite 105 by Anne Sisteron love ring (similar)

If you follow Brooke du jour regularly, you know I always feel at home in a pink dress. But, I’m especially swooning over the saccharine scalloped trim at the bodice paired with my sweet treat studs. The earrings were a thoughtful gift from my brother, Will, for my 22nd birthday. (What a gentleman, right? Ladies, he’s single!) To up the edge factor a bit, I accessorized with a studded-collar blouse and studded-heeled ballet flats. Every outfit needs a dash of sass, right?

My Favorite Swingy Skirt

March 11, 2014

Outfit: Old Navy blouse, J.Crew skirt (25% with code HAPPYSHOPPING)
Accessories: J.Crew belt (similar), Rebecca Minkoff purse, Guess heels
Jewelry: CUSP bracelet (similar), Kate Spade ring

I’ve always been a fan of wearing blush and camel together, but the details of my bike print blouse, pleated skirt and floral pumps make the color combination even sweeter.

Megan snapped these photos in Main Street Garden Park. Even though I always drive by the park on the way home from my internship, I’ve never really stopped there to enjoy it. Once I’m back in Dallas from my spring break travels to Vail and New Orleans, I’m hoping to spend a free weekend at the park with a bowl of fresh strawberries and a stack of magazines.
